Occupational therapists believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in activities they enjoy, and that communities should promote inclusion of and participation from all people, regardless of age or ability.

Try these questions to assess your participation in your desired activities, and your level of satisfaction with your occupations of work, leisure and self-care:



1. Are there activities you wish you could participate in, but don’t – due to physical limitations?

2. Do you frequently feel overwhelmed by the demands placed upon you either at work or at home?

 Yes   No
3. Do you feel like you have little time for leisure or hobbies, just for yourself?

 Yes   No
4. Do you sometimes have trouble managing the physical demands of some day-to-day tasks, like lifting groceries, vacuuming, or entering and exiting the bathtub?

5. Are you having difficulty driving due to age-related conditions or recent injury, or have you avoided learning to drive even though you would like to drive?

6. Are there things about your home that you would change to make living there easier, such as the countertop heights, number of stairs, etc.?
